  • Get ready for some football! Owings Mills is home to the Baltimore Ravens Complex, which is less than a quarter-mile from the city center. The complex is the winning NFL team's training center (2014 stats are 6-4) and is open for those who would love to catch a glimpse of them in action. It's a great place for children too, as this complex offers more than 2,500 youth a safe place to exercise, play team sports and participate in after-school activities. It features a 60 yard artificial football field that is used for youth sports such as football, baseball, soccer and lacrosse. There is also a world-class running track.
  • Famous horse racing! Travel a mere seven or so miles to Baltimore to visit the Pimlico Race Course for some of the finest horse racing and the home of the Preakness Stakes Racing center, the second leg of the Triple Crown that is held after the Kentucky Derby. The Preakness has been called "The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans," because these beautiful yellow flowers are placed around the winner's neck. This training and racing center was featured in the film Seabiscuit and offers much more than horse racing, including fine 4-star dining at the Terrace and two other restaurants.
  • Prime real estate! The real estate market is prime for buying in 2014, as the median sales prices have not reached the 2007-2008 bubble prices; this means houses are still affordable. Rent to own homes are available, as well, for prices that remain low and are predicted to rise in the next few years. A 1,400 square foot, 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath Townhouse or Condo can be had for well under $300,000.
  • Real estate appreciation! The real estate values in Owings Mills is seven points above the national average, standing at a 2.91 percent increase since 1990. So, if you purchase a home in this lovely town, your equity is sure to build quickly.
