  • Kernersville is a town in Forsyth County North Carolina and is part of the Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem area. Located between Greenville and Greensboro, Kernersville is just 9 miles from Winston-Salem. It was first settled in 1756 by Jacob Story, mostly used as farmland to grow tobacco. In 1817, the land was purchased by Joseph Kerner and the town was renamed Kerner's Crossroad. It was renamed again later, as Kernersville. Recently, farming land surrounding the town has been converted to housing developments.
