To Flip or not to Flip the Mattress?
That is the question. There are so many mattresses available on the market today that there is not a great answer to this question. Over the last four or five years, there have a been some new companies and products offering a new and improved kind of mattress. There’s Purple, Leesa, Casper, Tuft & Needle all claiming to provide you with a fantastic nights rights shipped right to your door in a box. The answer for these new types of the mattress is no; you shouldn’t flip. The vast majority of mattresses sold today have no such flippant requirements.
Rotation is important.
While you may not have to flip your mattress but it is important to rotate it now and then. After buying one of these new mattresses, you should consider turning it every two weeks for the first three months and then once every two months for the rest of the mattress’ life. We are aware there are those out there whom would argue some are doing a mattress rotation every month and some go so far as every six months, however, we think every two month is good enough to keep the mattress functional.
We all lead relatively busy lives each with a million different things to remember to do every day, week, month, and year. It can be hard to stay on task with everything, and some things do slip through the cracks. In that spirit, here is a straightforward and smart way to remember to keep your mattress rotated. Try pinning an index card with the month that the next flip needs to occur. When changing the sheets remember to check the index card. If the month matches up to the current month, then it is time to flip the mattress.
