Lakeside, Florida, which is so called for its proximity to Doctors Lake, is an unincorporated area in Clay County, in the Orange Park area of northeast Florida, near Jacksonville. In the early 1800s, the land around the lake was owned by a sea captain named Zephaniah Kingsley. Shortly after buying the land, he established Laurel Grove Plantation there. Doctors Lake is not in fact a lake, but rather an inlet of the St. Johns River.
