Home values are rising! SeaTac has seen significant rise in home value since 2000. In 2000, homes had an average value of just under $150,000 and in 2012, those values had risen to an average of just under $230,000. However, SeaTac homes are less expensive than the Washington State average of just under $250,000, which means you still may be able to find a home for a steal!
Beautiful History! SeaTac was settled along the Fort Steilacoom-Fort Bellingham military road in the 1850s but it had a thriving Native American population well before that time. In Angle Lake, two 300-year-old Native American canoes were discovered at the bottom of the lake by a scuba diver in almost perfect condition. Today, SeaTac promotes multicultural activities and awareness with its cultural centers and the presence of one of the world's largest international airports, Sea-Tac, founded in 1949.
Cultural activities year round! SeaTac offers hundreds of recreational activities for residents. SeaTac hosts dozens of community activities and events each year, including the Community Easter Egg hunt in the spring, the Backyard Wildlife Festival, the Theater in the Park and an annual Christmas tree lighting each December.
A Great Place to Grow! With an average rental price of $917 in 2012, many SeaTac residents rent to own in the neighborhoods of Angle Lake and McMicken Heights. Rent prices are lower than state average, which means residents are free to spend their funds on entertainment or airfare at the nearby Seattle-Tacoma airport.
Gorgeous Outdoor Spaces! Hiking trails, parks, boating, fishing and other outdoor activities abound in SeaTac. Try boating and fishing at Angle Lake Park and Bow Lake Park, visit the trails at Des Moines Creek Park and take the pooch to Grandview Off-Leash Dog Park. Experience beautiful outdoor spaces at Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden.
