  • Planning ahead for the booming population! In 2012, the city of Yucaipa released a general plan to handle the boom. The plan began in 2014 and includes home-ownership assistance, housing incentive programs and an uptown-specific plan to build more homes in Yucaipa.
  • An apple a day keeps the doctor away! The part of Yucaipa known as the Oak Glen Apple Growing Area has been growing apples since 1867. While growing apples is what this area might do best, it offers a ton of activities as well. Pick your own apples in the orchards, visit the Oak Tree Village animal park, and even plan a wedding at one of the wedding venues.
  • Giving back to the community! Nothing brings a community closer together than giving back. Yucaipa has three organizations that residents can get involved with: The Lion's Club, Rotary Club of Yucaipa or the Yucaipa Valley Kiwanis Club.
  • A rising housing market! The housing market is bouncing back and that's very evident in a city like Yucaipa. The houses haven't reached the prices of Los Angeles yet, but they are steadily rising. Zillow predicts prices will rise 10.8% within the next year. Rent to own homes are a viable option in this market in neighborhoods such as Oak Glen or Dunlap Acres.
  • Not your typical California weather! Don't throw out all your winter clothes yet. Yucaipa is different than most California towns (especially LA, which is 80 miles west) in that the weather is more temperate. It even snows about once a year, mainly closer to the San Bernadino Mountains. Stay warm in the winter with the myriad activities offered at the Yucaipa Community Center.
  • Get outside! Yucaipa boasts 14 city parks, including the Bryant Glen Sports Complex. If you want to hike in the park, go fishing or play golf at the Yucaipa Valley Golf Club, there's something for everyone.
  • Premium real estate! Yucaipa has become known as the place to live in the Inland Empire. That fact, combined with Yucaipa's uncapped economic development make it a perfect place to look into rent to own houses in the downtown area or the area around Wildwood Canyon Road.
  • For the art lovers! Beyond the city and parks there lies a community that loves the arts. Check out the Mousley Museum of Natural History or Yucaipa Adobe Museum. For the theatre crowd, Yucaipa also offers the Heartland Players Theatre Company and the Yucaipa Little Theatre.
  • It's a renter's paradise! In comparison to the rest of California, Yucaipa is a renter's paradise (26% vs. California's 22%). The bigger the home or apartment, the more likely it is to be rented in Yucaipa. Choosing a home close to the I-10 or the main thoroughfare of Avenue E is perfect for commuters, and look at rent to own options.
  • Famous people lived here! There must be something in the water, because plenty of baseball players are Yucaipa natives. Corky Miller (Cincinnati Reds), Matt Carson (Minnesota Twins), Tyler Chatwood (Colorado Rockies), and Matt Davidson and Mark Teahen (both of the Arizona Diamondbacks) were all born or lived in Yucaipa. Cheer them on at Time Out Sports Bar and Grill or support the local Yucaipa Thunderbirds.
